Tina (kneeling, center) and the OpenSky team
It’s a thrilling experience when a Shopkeeper stops by the office. We spend so much time reading their blogs and speaking to them on the phone that it feels like we’re old friends by the time we meet. The face-to-face meeting is truly exciting and the energy level at OpenSky HQ becomes palpable. This Wednesday we were lucky to be joined by our friend Tina who writes the extremely popular, Food Buzz Blog Award nominated blog, Carrrots n Cake. We swarmed Tina like she just hit a game-winning home run and definitely overwhelmed her with our eagerness to introduce ourselves.
After introductions and an impromptu photo shoot, we discussed the merchandising strategy for her soon-to-launch OpenSky shop and went through product catalogues of manufacturers who are eager to partner in this exciting endeavor. Sitting with Tina, it became immediately clear what makes OpenSky Shopkeepers so special. She’s a savvy entrepreneur who’s built an incredibly powerful personal brand by simply being herself. Tens of thousands of people read her blog every week to get a glimpse into her life. She’s a real person who’s arrived at an exciting point in her life where she can create a living around her passion and influence. OpenSky is going to be a big part of that. Like John always says, people like Tina will bring a heartbeat back to shopping.
The energy and enthusiasm that results from meeting, interacting with, and learning from our Shopkeepers is incredible. It’s the best part of the job. We’re building OpenSky to make sure it’s also the best part of a consumer’s shopping experience.

Tina’s blog CarrotsNCake is amazing and her shop is shaping up to be truly special. As you said, she’s a savvy entrepreneur who has built an incredibly powerful personal brand.
It was great having her visit nyc (see her post about her trip here: http://bit.ly/sgQM8) and the OpenSky team.
